This rock was really stressed out. Check out all that bath salt. |
My favorite way to unwind after a long day is to take a nice, salt and herb infused bath. I used to like bubble baths, but my skin has gone really wack-tastic on me in recent years with flares of eczema due to the heavy perfumes and dyes in many soaps and laundry detergents. So, when I found out about the detoxing and relaxing effects of Epsom salt, I was all over that. The key to Epsom salt is the magnesium sulfate--it is absorbed directly into the body through your skin preventing crap like hypertension and even diabetes. Science? Magic? You decide.
Plus, on the "magic" side, salt and negativity don't mix. Having a bad day? Stop by Walgreens and grab a $4 bag of Epsom salt. It's really that easy.
Here's what I do:
1. Feel pressure to be superwoman. Smile. Take a deep breath. Plan a "spa" salt bath.
2. Fill bath with warm water. Fill that sucker nice and high with water. As the water is flowing add about 1-2 C of Epsom salt. You can also add essential oil too. I like lavender, ylang ylang, myrrh, jasmine, and rosemary. I also add a couple rose quartz stones to my bath too, just to up the love energy.
3. Sink in and enjoy (for at least 20 minutes or more). I can stay in a warm bath for damn near close to an hour if I'm really in the relaxation zone.
4. Get some rest! You deserve it.
I also make my own special blend of bath salts using a combination of Epsom salt, sea salt, baking soda, and fresh lavender from my garden. I have found this mixture to be powerhouse of detoxification (from the Epsom Salt), negative energy be-gone! (from the sea salt), baking soda (cleans yo body and makes your skin extra soft), and the lovely scent of home-grown lavender (soothing) from my garden. I'll make ya some bath salt (and other trinkets) HERE.
Self-care is one of the most important things you can do for yourself to stay healthy, {soul} wealthy, and superwoman or superman wise.
xoxo,
Nik
