I was just thinking about recent events, and how all the different symbols and opinions truly reflect the uniqueness of the American people. Think about what's been trending on social media lately. . . the confederate flag, rainbow filters, churches burning, hate crimes, marijuana legalization, even the "N" word.
We are still such a divided nation, and the layers of injustice go so deep. Yet, I have hope. I have hope in the heavy stuff. It's surfacing so much right now to encourage everyone to interact--to get the buzz going in the collective. And it's working. "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that." Martin Luther King, Jr. said that. What a buzz that man caused with his light?!
Change that profile pic {buzz}! Post that comment {buzz}! "Like" that post {buzz}! Make new friends {buzz}! YOU are a LIGHT!
Our nation's Achilles heel(s) are no longer hidden. Lady liberty's children are vulnerable, and hurt, and confused, and upset, and afraid, and LOUD! We are so lucky to have the right to be such expressive, bold, citizens--and that L(r)IGHT is what will heal us.
