Two Thumbs Up

Now that I am a grown-up I serve the community in order to pay my bills.  Ha!  No seriously, I work at the library very early every Saturday and Sunday.  This means I no longer have much of a "normal person" weekend.  With that said, Friday and Saturday night are still my "school nights".

So, while everyone else is out getting shit-faced (remember my town was voted 5th drunkest in the nation), I am curling up with a book or a movie.  Am I missing much, really?  Really?  Probably not.  Been there.  Done that.  Probably have the tee shirt around here somewhere to prove it too.

Anyway, I just watched "The Switch" starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman.  At first, I thought this movie was going to be a no-brainer romantic comedy, because the plot line is as follows:  woman meets man, woman puts man in friend zone, they are BFFs, she wants a baby so she decides to get a donor--who is not the man friend, she throws party for her insemination, man-friend gets completely wasted and unknowingly "switches" the donor's . . . uh hum, donation.  Seven years later friends plus kid re-unite.

So I just described the trailer below . . . in case you are at work or something and can't watch it.  (If you are at work, the trailer is "work friendly".)

Anyway, this movie really surprised me.  I cried at one of the father/son moments.  It was that good--and not "The Notebook" crying, but the touching kind of tears.  Plus, there were some very humorous parts too.  I would really recommend this one for the Netflix queue or a rental from your local video store--if you're not out getting shitfaced or something . . .

Sincerely,
Nik

PS:  If you don't have Netflix and want to get a FREE month, send me your e-mail and I will hook you up.

I might just have to check it out. I'm usually not a big fan of Jennifer Aniston's action abilities but I might just give this one a go.

Nicole: I hope you do! It was really worth it. It's also much more Jason Bateman's movie than Aniston. I remember thinking, I never expected Bateman to pull this off so well. I mean, I loved him in Arrested Development, but he really carries this movie. :-)

Loved ur entry about the 9/11 flag BTW!!
