5 Things To Like This Week

This really works!

1.  All Natural Hair Treatments.  OK.  I found this online and it is doing wonders for my hair.  It takes a little time to do, but the results are FANTASTIC.  No joke.  Here's what you need:  1/4-1/2 cup distilled vinegar, 1 tsp rosemary essential oil, and 1tbs coconut oil.  Fill a spray bottle with the distilled vinegar.  Spray on hair at the root while messaging your head for 15 minutes.  Yes.  15 minutes.  It's all about stimulating the hair follicle.  Then add the rosemary oil and continue massaging this into the roots.  I think the rosemary smells divine and it makes your bathroom smell nice too!  Leave the vinegar/rosemary mixture on your hair.  Emulsify the coconut oil in your hand and apply to the bottom 2 inches of hair.  Don't use too much coconut oil, because it is hard to rinse out.  Pop a shower cap on.  Watch tv, do the dishes, paint your nails, or go to bed (I don't sleep in it, but you can).  I leave it on for about 3 hours.  Then shampoo the stuff out.  I find that I have to shampoo twice just to make sure the coconut oil is out.  You shouldn't need to condition.  Viola!  Do this once or twice a week and your hair will be shiny, thicker, and amazing!  I didn't think it would work, but it really does!  I've only done it 4X and it is really improving my hair!

Ever been laid off?  This is a great film to see!

2.  Lemonade DVD.  "It's not a pink slip.  It's a blank page."  I was checking in some DVDs at work this week and came across this one about people who have made the best out of being laid off.  I was laid off from a very lucrative job in the technology field back in 2009 and, although it was a crazy time, I am still convinced it was the best thing that could have happened to me.  It forced me to decide what I wanted to do with my professional life.  Anyway, "Lemonade" is a very inspiring, short (it's only about 30 minutes long) look at how a pink slip doesn't have to be a bad thing.  See also: Please Feed The Animals

This one is called "Cloud Nine".  I call it "chill time".
3.  Nude colored nail polish.  I really like Essie nail polish in "Cloud Nine".  I find that you really have to use a base coat with the more natural colors, though.  I also recommend a fast drying top coat.  I've used all sorts of nail products like press on, glue on, professional tips, and these all wreck the crap out of my nails.  Lately, I've just been taking the old fashioned route and painting them myself.  My nails are healthier and growing stronger, plus I like the natural look a lot better too.

So many choices, right?!
4.  Spring outfits.  As you know, I love Pinterest.  I made a little collage to take with me when I go shopping for Spring outfits.  This way I get stuff I don't already have.  I always seem to buy neutral tones like black, brown and tan.  This spring I want to jump into different colors like coral and turquoise.  I just love these and I can't wait for Summer!

Dragon bite?
5.  Snapdragon Red Wine.  I don't drink red wine that often, or hardly at all, but I loved this bottle and the story on the back.  Ya, they suckered me in with the cute bottle.  (This is probably why I drive a purple car, too.)  Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this red wine.  It is not too dry and is relatively smooth with raspberry and plum notes with a deep toffee finish.  Plus, it's cheap at around $8.   Love this "legend" from the back of the bottle:  "Legend has it, long ago, a farmer befriended a dragon using the creature to guard his crops from raiding poachers.  Flying overhead, the dragon would snap its jaws causing thieves to flee empty handed.  Upon the dragon's demise, the farmer planted a vine over it's majestic body, which in time grew into a vineyard. Each harvest, the spirit of the dragon lives on inspiring the creation of these delicious wines!"   It was a nice change of pace from my usual sweet moscato fix.

Love ya,
Nik
