5 Things to Like This Week

1.  Odell Chocolate Milk Stout.  OK.  I know I write about beer a lot, but I work in a liquor store part-time and I get to sample all the goodies that come in.  And by sample, I mean a singles cooler and an employee discount!  LOL.  Anyway, I tried a bottle of this stout last night and it was so delicious!  It literally tasted like chocolate milk with a stout aftertaste--whoa.  I could only drink one of these . . . this chocolaty goodness has 8% alcohol.  Aaaaah yeah!

2.  Louis C.K. has a show out on FX called "LOUIE".  Um this show is pretty funny.  It's a little dry and shocking at times, but it's just so honest--and that's what makes it hilarious!  You know what else makes it hilarious?  When you are watching it with a friend who laughs like a jolly Santa Claus at, like, every scene.  Whoever said laughter is the best medicine . . .was totally right!

3.  King Richard III's remains were found under a parking lot in England this week.  As an avid archaeological buff, this was just freeeeaking cool.  CNN wrote a great article about this, complete with pictures.  Shakespeare even wrote a play about this dude, so it peaked my literature brain as well.  He was found to have a curvature to his back which matches some of the historical writing about him.  I love it when the historical record matches the archaeological one!  This pretty much documents that I am a huge nerd.  Huh, huh, cool.

4.  Beyonce's half-time performance at the Superbowl.  I didn't watch the Superbowl, but I did YouTube the half-time performance the next day at work.  HOLY SHIT!  That woman is a goddess!  I am not big on live, pop performances.  I prefer the seedy bar live band shows, but Beyonce just killed it!  That woman shook her ass and sang, yes really sang, for 15 minutes straight!  YOU GO GIRL!!!!

5.  My grandma saying the name "Shaniqua" . . . twice.  Ok.  I want you to picture my 80+ year old grandma here . . . picture Betty White + 80 years of Christian values + not a dirty thought in her mind *ever* + and the naivety of a small town gal.  This is my Grandmother.  This is my family trying to pick out baby names for someone in the family who is preggers (NOT ME.  OH HELL TO THE NO.).  Anyway, the name "Shaniqua" came up.  My grandma kinda wrinkles her nose, trying to pronounce the name "SHAA-NEEE-QUAA?".  She gets it right and I look at my brother smiling, "Watch this.  I'm gonna get her to say it again."  "WHAT Grandma??"  I say.  Wash.  Rise.  Repeat.  Good times.

Love you,
Nik
