5 Things To Like This Week

MONTANA Edition

1.  Michael Franti & Spearhead.  One of my favorite parts of going back to visit Bozeman/Big Sky Montana is the awesome live music.  I always try to plan my trips around good shows.  This time was no exception.  Frant played in Big Sky right at the foot of the lifts.  It was a little chilly, as it had just rained in the late afternoon, so we were dancing right in the mud, but the vibe was so awesome that it didn't matter--except when Franti told us to jump--I kept sticking to the ground!  It was too funny!  Anyway, it was a very family friendly show.  My favorite part was when he sang, "Say Hey" and out came, like, 20 little kids dancing and jumping around the stage with him!  I love a Franti show--I just couldn't stop smiling!!

2.  The Naked Noodle.  This place is one of my favorite places to eat in Bozeman.  I stopped by on my way out of town on Monday.  My favorite dish is the Zorba the Geek.  It's white wine, capers, tomatoes, onions, feta and I add tofu, two helpings of fried spinach and more feta.  I like my food yummy y'all!!

 3.  The freeeeekin scenery!!  Bozeman is in the heart of the Gallatin Valley so it's surrounded by the most beautiful mountain ranges in. the. world.!  I long ago fell in love with the Spanish Peaks, Bridger and Gallatin mountain ranges.  Check out this picture of the Bridgers from my girl Mel's apartment!  Cha ching!!!!

4.  Black Mask--these guys are underground hip-hop originally from Bozeman. Montana.  I didn't see their show this time, but they are a staple in my car when I drive to and from Bozeman.  They take me back to a time when I used to get my buzz on and hit up their shows at the Zebra Cocktail Lounge--and get a little crazy.  Miss those times. Their album "A Serious Joke" is one of my desert island albums.  I love it.  Check them out and check out this tune from their earlier album "Free P" (circa my crazy days--loved those shows.)  Seriously, good shit.

5.  GOOD FRIENDS.  I always love going back to Bozeman because of all the good friends I made throughout the decade that I lived there.  I got to see so many people who are still cool as shit and love me for me.  Quality people are hard to find, and there are most definitely quality people in the Bozone (and Belgrade LOVE YOU S!!!).  I had to move on, but you are always in my heart.

Until next time, Montana . . .

MAD LOVE FROM THE BLACK HILLS,
Nik
