I'm Nobody's Cabbage Patch Doll

Every issue, "Vanity Fair" magazine, publishes a "Proust Questionnaire".  These quizzes are all over the social networking sites, and it's actually an idea that's been around since the end of the nineteenth century when Marcel Proust decided to quiz his family and friends facebook style with a pen and paper.  There, now don't say I never learned ya nothin'.

[These questions are from the "Vanity Fair" magazine template.]

Enjoy!

What is your current state of mind?

Jumbled.  I have a lot of different things going on inside my noggin right now.  "Damn, I make good cupcakes ['Cause I just ate one]."  "I got everything I wanted for Valentine's Day.  Seriously.  Everything.  Sushi.  Chocolate.  Vodka.  Everything."  "I hope the vet knows what is wrong with Sophia's ear.  I'm a worried momma right now."

What is your greatest fear?
I am thrice afraid of . . .Bears.  Bears are not cute and cuddly creatures from Jellystone.  BEARS WILL EAT YOUR FACE.  I'm equally afraid of Trains.  Trains are big and fast.  TRAINS WILL SQUISH YOU.  Lastly, I am terrified of old people.  Old people are not cute and innocent.  DID YOU KNOW THAT DOGS AND BEES AND OLD PEOPLE CAN SMELL FEAR???!!!

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
I have a tendency to get obsessive.  It's the Scorpio/Scorpio Rising in me.  It's also the freak in me.  It makes me a very good P.I. though.  I should open a firm.  Seriously.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
I have little respect for anyone who lacks integrity.  Lying, cheating, stealing, abusive behavior, using people, selfishness and not respecting boundaries--these are all traits that are the antithesis of integrity in my book.  Also, being unkind to animals and children is so telling about a person's character.

Which living person do you most admire?
Anyone who has the courage to live with passion, courage, and love.  The living person who embodies these traits is my mother.  She and I argue a lot, but I think it's because we share the same passionate heart--and most of the time she is right, but I am stubborn and have to figure things out on my own--waiting for your kid to "figure it out on their own" must be the most frustrating part of being a parent.  My mom has courage unlike anyone I've ever known.  For example, all of us, my brother, my sister and I, have faced life threatening illnesses/surgeries/situations and I've never seen her throw her hands in the air and cry "why?" or appear to give up.  Instead, she is calm and puts her head against that wall and pushes harder.  She also taught me how important it is to be honest and the meaning of unconditional love.

Which living person to you most despise?
I'm not sure I despise a single person.  I think people are inherently good.  I truly believe it's circumstances, morals, nurture/nature, that define a person's behavior--good or bad.  However, I cannot excuse behavior that condones human rights violations such as war crimes, torture, teaching children to kill for money, war profiteering, arms dealing, unethical diamond mining, sexual slavery, capital punishment, using violence or hating an entire group of people based on religion, the RIGHT to choose, creed, sexual orientation, or race, I could go on and on . . . but you get the idea.

On What Occasion Do You Lie?
Mr./Mrs. Tact-less:  "How old are you?"
Me:  "29.  Same age I was last year."

Who or what is the greatest love of your life?
Learning.  I truly have a love of learning.  I am a nerd.  Yes.  I'm OK with it.

When and where were you happiest?
Now/Here

Which talent would you most like to have?
I think it would be so awesome to sing and play guitar.

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?
I really, really wish I was taller.  I am never referred to as sexy or hot (and give me a break, all women want to be called this once in a while).  I am always "that cute, blonde girl with the round face".  Essentially, I am being told that I resemble a Cabbage Patch Kid or an American Girl Doll.  Awesome.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Graduating college.  I was the first in my immediate family to do so.  Diploma's framed and on my wall . . . it was tough, but I made it (and am still paying it off)  blah.

If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what do you think it would be?
A cat.  Hands down.  Independent.  Sleep in the sunshine.  Sniff the nip.  Eat seafood.  Hell yeahhh.

What is your favorite occupation?
A witch with a broom, spells, and an old house.  Oh and really long, wavy witch hair.  No warts and green face--I wanna be a sexy witch, not a Cabbage Patch witch!!!   "I've put a spell on you . . . and now you're miiiiine!!!"

Who are your favorite writers?
Until recently, I'd never really read anything by Stephen King.  I was being a snob.  I thought he was too commercial and that I'd seen the movies based on the GIANT books.  Good enough.  Boy, was I shocked.  THIS MAN IS A LITERARY GENIUS.   Anyway, I read a lot and I read a large range of authors, so I can't pick one.  It's kinda like music or movies.  I have several that are in my top 5.  So if I have to pick 5 (not in any order) here they are:
   1. Stephen King
   2. Paulo Coelho
   3. Jim Harrison
   4. Anne Rice (Pre-2009)
   5. Non-Fiction about surviving at sea, or plane crashes, social issues, and some biography.

Who is your favorite hero of fiction?
Tristran Thorn from Neal Gaiman's novel "Stardust".

Who are your heroes in real life?
Barack Obama:  I wouldn't want that job.  Would you?
People who keep it real:  Ur beautiful just the way u r.
Good Parents:  If you raise good little people, they usually turn into good big people.
Teachers.  Smile at the next one you see.

What are your favorite names?
Katharine:  "Am I K in your book?"--"The English Patient"  (Catherine, spelled with a C and a second E, is also the main character in one of my favorite books, "Wuthering Heights").
Tristan:  This is the name of the passionate, beautiful man in the short story by Jim Harrison "Legends of the Fall".  You might also remember him from a little movie starring, hottie mc-hotterton, Brad Pitt.

What is your greatest regret?
I can't think of one.

How would you like to die?
. . . softly with his song.    heeee

What is your motto?
Be love.  Life is far too short to be anything else.

End of Quiz,
Nik

PS:  Seriously, you made it this far through this ENTIRELY TOO LONG BLOG ENTRY.  Please, answer a question and tell me a little about you!

ok I'll post one:

If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what do you think it would be?
I'm posting this one because I totally agree. Being a cat would be AWESOME.

I think being a tree in a forest would be pretty rad too. Enjoying the sunshine, housing creatures, swaying in the breeze, sleeping through winter and then bursting with life once warmth returns to my region...

Sarah: I think you are right. Being a tree would be lovely!
