I'm so not a Nook girl.
I just don't think that anything beats a physical book. You can read a book in the sunshine and not worry about glare. You can drop a book and not worry about the pages cracking. Hell, you can even defend yourself with a hardcover copy of Tolstoy. I've been carrying books longer than I've had a cell phone so, out of habit, the first thing I check for is my book over my phone--thus solidifying the nerd status. However, I digress, I love the weight of a good book in my bag.
I embrace technology. I think the Nook, Kindle and Ipad are good technological advances. I'm just not sure they're for me. I also don't think they will make bound books obsolete. Who can resist the smell of a new book, freshly bound with glue and a shiny cover? Or the touch of a child's board book with a fuzzy teddy bear tummy? I mean what are we going to swear our oaths on? A copy of the Bible on a thin, little Kindle?
I suppose, no matter the format, at least people are reading. It's just now the cool kids have the electronic version and us nerds still use the paper copy?
I embrace my nerdiness.
Sincerely,
Nik

I'm not a Nook girl either. And while I love every word of this post, I was especially reminded of the power of books when reading about a teddy bear's tummy...you're so right.
Thanks Ingrid! We get so many little board books in at the library. I love them! I'm like a kid that way too!!!
Thanks for reading!
